We better love kale

When I walked into the barn and saw the garbage bag full of Kale waiting for me…I laughed out loud. All by myself-cracking up in the barn. SO THAT is what 10 bunches of Kale looks like.

It also helped make plans for me tonight. Who wants to go to a bar and watch a comedian with fun people from work?!?! NOT ME! Instead I drank a glass of wine and chopped leaf after leaf of Kale.

And this is my daughter…

Please someone send aid…I am drowning in Kale….

You need a kale fairy… oops I spoke too soon! The last pic is your kale fairy coming to help! Oh no?! She just walked by in her fairy costume and shook her head at you…

She must not have been a real kale fairy… real kale fairies wear green. And are shorter…

but seriously… who is the enemy that dropped that off? and WHY???

vitamins vitamins vitamins though.. you’re a good mom.. .but how are you going to stuff your kids with that stuff?

I boil it with salt, olive oil and a head of garlic chopped up…. YUM. 30 minutes… what are you doing with it?

I am so glad to know someone else is up at this insane hour…guess what I am doing…YUP…looking up kale recipes.
We use on pizza (see blog post), and I found a good soup recipe…potatoes and such. I think in eggs and hmmmm any one know any other good kale recipes. PASTA! Yes in pasta. And then just sauteed with what you said.
I bought it 10 bunches for 10 bucks from the farm we buy from.
Plus—you crack me up with your kale fairies. Too funny.

well.. now it is 1:15 a.m… that is an insane hour… I don’t know what you meant earlier by your comment that you left at 10:15…. um Beth….. don’t know what goes on up there in Maine… but you need to change it up a bit…

I know I know… the chasing of the kids… the chopping of the kale.. all very tiring things throughout the day but don’t publicly admit on your blog at 10:15 p.m. that you are up at this insane hour… people will pick on you.. .OK.. just me… I will pick on you I guess.

sautee with onions and garlic… crushed red pepper.. toss with orrechetti… salt and pepper and romano.. simple.. YUM.

    Hi Beth-
It must be a good year for kale. This is our first year growing it and we have lots! If you come up with any creative and easy uses for it please let me know. We did have it on pizza last night- Justin’s idea and it was great. I think we will just substitute it for spinach. Have a great weekend! 🙂

Kelly-you always make fun of me so what else is new? I am going to try that recipe next week with a fresh bunch of kale. That sounds great.

Christa-Have fun freezing…drink a glass wine while doing it…so much nicer that way. HA!

HAHAHAHAHA- No, I will make fun of you too, I just wasn’t near a computer yet to do so. 10:15?! Insane hour?! You might want to keep that to yourself man. At first when I was looking at it i thought maybe it was 10:15 PST and in that case it would be kinda late on your coast, but no, it seems that Kelly has made it obvious that it really was only 10:15 EST. You are such a square. And your obsession with kale is starting to make me uncomfortable, I think you need to seek professional help.

Ooh, Kale, I’m jealous! We never get deals like that at our farm. Nice work. We use ours in our lasagne recipe when we have it frozen. Or we grind it up in the mini-chopper and add it to anything. It hides surprisingly well.
